About Jordan Whitehead
About Jordan Whitehead

Experienced Addiction Psychologist

Over 15 years supporting individuals and families through addiction recovery

My name is Jordan Whitehead. I'm a Psychologist with over 15 years' experience supporting individuals and families affected by addiction in both public and private settings across Australia.

Areas of Specialisation:

  • Alcohol use and binge drinking
  • Drug dependency, including prescription and illicit substances
  • Gambling addiction
  • Pornography and sex-related concerns
  • Internet, gaming, and screen overuse
  • Compulsive behaviours like shopping, food, and risk-taking
  • Outpatient withdrawal support for those wishing to safely reduce or stop alcohol or drug use

I understand that shame, secrecy, and taboo often silence people. My goal is to create a safe and non-judgemental space where even the most difficult struggles can be spoken about openly and met with respect and care.

I am currently completing my Doctoral Degree (PsyD), specialising in hidden grief — the unspoken losses that often sit beneath addiction. This research deepens the way I support clients experiencing layered emotional pain.

I also bring lived experience to this work. Members of my own family live with addiction, ADHD, and autism. These insights help me stay grounded, empathetic, and focused on what truly matters — practical and hopeful support that makes change possible.

Outside of work, I enjoy time with my family, renovating a country farmhouse, and spending time outdoors. I especially like watching sunsets, which is a daily reminder to maintain balance in the same way I encourage my clients to.

Collaborative & Practical Therapy
How I Work

Collaborative & Practical Therapy

Therapy with me is collaborative and practical. Together, we explore the personal history, relationships, and life circumstances that contribute to addictive behaviours. My role is to help you (and your family if you choose) find sustainable strategies for change, with support that continues both pre-treatment and post-treatment if you have engaged with a rehab service.

Sessions are available face to face in East Melbourne and via secure telehealth across Australia.
